Construction Management Internships
S. M. Wilson offers construction management internship opportunities that position college students to not merely learn about the construction process, but actually contribute to the project to which they’re assigned. We do not see our interns as summer help, but as potential future employees and fellow owners.
Most of our opportunities are for the summer, but we have students that attend local universities that work throughout the year while in school. This keeps them engaged and involved in projects allowing them to see more of the building process.
The number of interns we hire is based on the number of quality opportunities we expect to have. Quality is based on the type and size of project, location, staff and, most importantly, the availability of an excellent mentor. After visiting university career fairs, we start our screening and interviewing process. Hiring decisions are made prior to Thanksgiving for the following spring semester and summer.
Opportunities include attending all internal operations training events, touring other significant projects, and being a part of the S. M. Wilson culture from fun events and social gatherings, interns and co-ops are treated like full time employees.
