Edwardsville, IL—Work has started on the renovation and addition of Panhandle Community Unit School District #2 Lincolnwood Junior / Senior High School. S. M. Wilson is excited to partner with the district as the General Contractor for this project, with Graham & Hyde Architects serving as the architect.
The gymnasium’s renovation includes a new court floor, roof, doors, fresh paint, LED scoreboards and scorers tables, and an upgraded HVAC system to enhance the facility’s climate control. New bleachers will also be installed to improve spectator seating. The locker rooms will also receive some attention with a total remodel of the plumbing, brand-new metal lockers, bath accessories, and lighting upgrades.
The addition of a new weight/cheer room and corridor will add about 5,000 square feet to the existing multipurpose room. The structure will tie in with the existing one, which has similar features, including interior masonry walls and exterior metal panels on top of the ground face block. The interior will provide new athletic flooring and an open floor plan for future equipment plans, along with a storage room.
“The Panhandle School District is excited to begin this renovation journey with S. M. Wilson. Their experience, craftsmanship, and commitment to excellence make them a perfect fit for our school district,” said Aaron Hopper, Superintendent.
“We are eager to honor the rich history of Panhandle as we partner with S. M. Wilson to renew and expand our facilities for future generations of students. Together, we look forward to “Charging Toward Excellence” here in Panhandle.”
